Murphy’s Kids, Nix86, The Best of The Worst, Bingus Jones – 12/28 – Bushwick Music Studios

Flier 12.28.09

Murphy’s Kids, one of the hardest working bands in ska/punk is passing through this December. Think Rx Bandits without the pretension and one of the most energetic live shows you’ve ever seen.  Download their music for free from Community Records.

Joining them will be Nix86, which is nothing less than a Long Island ska/pop-punk supergroup boasting former members of Step Lively, High School Football Heroes, Edna’s Goldfish, The Flaming Tsunamis, We Are The Union, and BTMI. Download their tunes for free.

I caught The Best of The Worst at The Glass Door a month ago and was completely blown away by just how much energy they poured into their music, reminding me why people goto shows in the first place. The mix of hardcore punk and skacore basically left my ears with stretch marks. Download their EP Calling From The Grave for free from Open Hand Records.

Bingus Jones plays stripped down lo-fi ska-punk. Watch a video here.

All this at my new favorite venue in Brooklyn, Bushwick Music Studios. Chill space, DJs between sets, All Ages, PBRs out of a damn cooler, and usually Four Loko finds it’s way into the building. 55 Waterbury St, L Train to Montrose (or you could take the B48 like me!)
